Often asked how I began photography, I remember my father giving a brownie camera
as a joint Christmas present to my brother and me when I was seven. My mother had
almost died that May, and continued her journey of healing from brain surgery for years through mind-numbing medication and music therapy, and my father was left to figure out the kids - the camera was the tool he gave us, helping us through. Every week he would ask if we had finished our roll of film so he could take it to Eckerd drug store and get it developed. He would bring back his pipe tobacco and the double black and white prints with the deckled edges and 2 more rolls of film. Photos of kitties, dogs, bunnies, trees and flowers were our world and our subjects.
This started me on my way to document with love and care the things around me. Thanks Pop!
In 2015, I am going on a journey to document the world around me.
Stay tuned as we travel together to:
Australia, Tokyo, Hanoi, Dubai, Istanbul, Capetown, Casablanca,
and back home to Tampa, Florida, and then Portland, Oregon.
